Phone Footage Preflight is a small Windows command-line tool for people who drop phone clips into an editor and hit sideways video, washed-out HDR, audio that drifts, or an "unsupported codec" error.

Point it at one clip or a whole folder. It runs ffprobe locally and explains in plain words what will cause trouble: HEVC, AV1 or VP9 codecs, 10-bit video, HDR, BT.2020 color, variable frame rate, rotation stored as metadata, odd frame sizes, Opus or 44.1 kHz audio, MKV and WebM containers. Every finding is ranked RISK, WARN or INFO with the reason and the fix.

It then prints one ffmpeg command that fixes exactly the issues found, and a ProRes alternative for editing. Reports come as Markdown and JSON, with exit codes for scripting. The tool never modifies your files.

Requires ffprobe (part of FFmpeg) on your PATH. The Python source is included, so it also runs on macOS and Linux with Python 3.10 or newer. No installer, no account, no cloud.

Privacy: the program runs entirely on your PC. No account, no network requests, no data collected. Sold through itch.io, which handles the payment.
