What Warranty Wallet does

When something breaks, a warranty claim needs three facts at once: the serial number, proof of purchase and the date the cover ends. Most people keep those in three places. Warranty Wallet is a ledger that holds them together and finds the right record from a fragment of a serial or receipt number.

It runs in your browser as a single page. There is no account and no upload.

Step by step

  1. Press Log product. Enter the product name and, as far as you have them, the brand, category, serial number, retailer, receipt or order number, purchase date and price paid.
  2. Give the warranty either as a length in months or as an explicit end date. If you give months, the app works out the end date for you.
  3. Add notes, for example where the paper receipt is kept or what the warranty covers, and press Save record.
  4. The ledger lists every record, soonest warranty end first. A strip at the top shows what expires next and the total value still under cover.
  5. To find a record, type in the search bar. Pressing the / key jumps to it from anywhere on the page.
  6. Click a row to open its detail drawer. From there you can edit, delete or press Copy claim text, which copies a plain-text summary of the record ready to paste into a support form.

How search works

Search looks at the product, brand, serial number, receipt or order number and retailer. Serial matching ignores dashes, spaces and capital letters, so typing ksl142201 finds KSL14-2201-88413. Several words narrow the result, because every word has to match. The chips under the bar filter by status, and the ledger can be sorted by end date, name, purchase date or retailer. If the search leaves exactly one record, Enter opens it, and Esc closes the drawer.

Status colors and date arithmetic

StatusMeaning
ActiveThe warranty ends more than 30 days from today.
Expiring soonThe warranty ends within the next 30 days.
ExpiredThe end date has passed.

Warranty lengths are counted in calendar months, and a date that does not exist is pulled back to the end of the month. Something bought on 31 January with a one-month warranty is covered until the last day of February.

Where your data is stored

Records are saved in this browser's local storage on this device, and only there. The page contains no network code, so serial numbers and receipt numbers never leave your machine. Another browser, another device or a private window will show an empty wallet.

If the stored ledger ever becomes unreadable, the app sets a copy of it aside before writing anything new, so a damaged save is not silently overwritten.

Export, import and print

  • Export JSON downloads a complete backup that can be imported later.
  • Export CSV downloads a spreadsheet file. Cells are quoted safely, and values that a spreadsheet could mistake for formulas are neutralized.
  • Import takes a backup file or pasted JSON and lets you choose between merging it into the current wallet and replacing the wallet entirely.
  • Print prints the ledger table as a paper record.
  • Reset asks twice before deleting everything. Deleting a single record asks once.

Limits

  • No photos or scans of receipts. The receipt field holds a number or reference, not an image.
  • No reminders or notifications. The Expiring soon status is visible only when you open the page.
  • No barcode scanning and no automatic lookup of manufacturer warranty terms.
  • A warranty can be at most 600 months long, a product name at most 120 characters and notes at most 2,000.
  • Prices are stored as you type them, with no currency conversion.

Tips

  1. Log the serial number on the day you unbox. It is often on a sticker that ends up behind or under the appliance.
  2. Put the place where the paper receipt lives in the notes, so the record points to the proof.
  3. Use the retailer's order number in the receipt field for online purchases. It is what support will ask for.
  4. Press Load sample on an empty wallet to try search on six example records before entering your own.
  5. Export a JSON backup after adding anything expensive, and keep the file somewhere other than this browser.

Questions and answers

Can I search with part of a serial number?

Yes. A fragment is enough, and dashes, spaces and capitalization are ignored.

What is the claim text?

A plain-text block with the details of one record, laid out so it can be pasted into a warranty or support form.

Will it warn me before a warranty ends?

Only on screen. Records within 30 days of their end date are marked Expiring soon, but the app sends no notifications.

Can two people share one wallet?

Not live. One person can export a backup and the other can import it, choosing to merge or replace.
