What Return Deadline Wallet does
Return windows are short, differ from store to store and are written only on a receipt or in an order email. Return Deadline Wallet is a single page that keeps them all in one list. You enter what you bought and how long the store gives you, and the app works out the deadline, counts down the days and puts the most urgent purchase at the top.
It is a web page, not an installed program. It needs no account, makes no network requests after it has loaded and works offline.
Step by step
- Open the app and fill in Add a purchase: the item, the store, the amount paid and the purchase date.
- Give the return window. Either type a number of days or press one of the quick picks (14, 30, 60 or 90), or enter the deadline date directly if the receipt states one.
- Add a note if it helps, such as where the receipt is or that the box must be kept, then press Add to wallet.
- Read the list. Each purchase shows its days remaining as a large number, colored by urgency, and the list is sorted most urgent first.
- Use the deadline strip above the list for an overview. Every open purchase is a pin on a timeline with a marker for today, and selecting a pin jumps to that purchase.
- When a purchase is settled, mark it Returned or Kept. Settled purchases leave the list, and the Show returned and kept box brings them back into view.
- Glance at the four figures in the header: how many purchases are open, how many are due within 7 days, the total refund still at risk and how many windows were missed.
- Not sure what it looks like when full? Press Load sample data on the empty screen.
What the urgency labels mean
| Label | Days left |
|---|---|
| Window closed | The deadline has passed |
| Return now | Today or tomorrow |
| Due soon | 2 or 3 days |
| This week | 4 to 7 days |
| On track | More than a week |
| Closed | You marked it Returned or Kept |
The reminder timeline
Below the list, the reminder timeline shows the next 14 days grouped by day. Each open purchase puts four points on it: seven days before the deadline, three days before, one day before and the last day itself. This is a schedule the page calculates, not a notification. The app cannot alert you when it is closed, so the timeline is something to check, not something that will reach out to you.
Where your data is stored
The wallet lives in the local storage of the browser you used, on the device you used. Each purchase record holds the item, store, amount, purchase date, window, deadline, status, the date it was closed and your notes. Nothing is sent to Rainlatch or to anyone else.
That also means the wallet does not follow you. A different browser, a different device or a private window starts empty, and clearing the site's data in your browser erases it. If the saved wallet ever cannot be read, the app keeps a copy of the unreadable data before starting again with an empty wallet.
Backups and moving the wallet
- Export JSON downloads the whole wallet as a file that can be imported again.
- Export CSV downloads a spreadsheet with one row per purchase, including days left and status.
- Copy as text puts a readable summary on the clipboard, and Print prints the page.
- Import JSON file, or Paste JSON, loads an exported wallet. Each row is checked, unreadable rows are skipped, and the app asks before replacing a wallet that already has entries.
- Reset wallet asks for confirmation and then deletes everything.
Limits
- A return window can be at most 365 days.
- There is no database of store policies. You type the window yourself, from the receipt.
- No push notifications, no email, no calendar entries.
- No receipt photos or scanning.
- No sync between devices, other than exporting a file and importing it elsewhere.
Tips
- Enter the purchase on the day you buy, while the receipt is in your hand. The window is the detail people forget.
- When a receipt prints a last return date, use the deadline date field, not a day count, so there is no counting error.
- Put the return conditions in the note: keep the box, tags on, store credit only.
- Export a JSON backup before clearing browser data or switching browsers.
- Mark items Kept as soon as you decide. The list stays short and the urgent ones stay visible.
Questions and answers
Will it remind me when the app is closed?
No. The reminder timeline is a schedule shown inside the page. It does not send notifications.
Does it know my store's return policy?
No. It has no policy database. You enter the number of days or the deadline date yourself.
Can I use it on my phone and my computer together?
Each browser keeps its own wallet. To move it, export a JSON file on one and import it on the other.
Is it free, and is there an account?
It is free to use on this site and there is no account of any kind.
