Tiny Room Builder

Empty rooms become lived-in worlds.

Unroll the rug, click the shelf to the wall, wake the monitor, water the plant. Transform bare rooms into cozy spaces, then leave them running as living ambient scenes.

What Tiny Room Builder is

Tiny Room Builder is a decorating game seen from the side, like a dollhouse with one wall removed. You start with an empty room, fill it with furniture, lights, plants and small personal things, and complete it when it feels like home. There is no timer, no budget and no way to lose. Every item is free to place.

The game keeps three room slots. Each room is built on a shell, which is the shape of the room, and a theme, which sets its look. Everything saves automatically on your device.

Controls

  • Tap an item in the palette on the right to pick it up. The spots where it can go light up in the room, and a tap on a glowing spot places it.
  • The palette is split into seven categories: Essentials, Storage, Lighting, Desk Gear, Decor, Plants and Music. Between them they hold 48 items, from a Woven Rug and an Oak Desk to a Record Player and a Fox Figurine.
  • Some items arrive messy. With nothing selected, tap a messy item to tidy it.
  • The top bar has Undo, a button that cycles the lighting preset, and a watch button for an ambient view of the room.
  • Press COMPLETE ROOM when you are happy. It needs at least six items, including at least one light and one item from Essentials.

How the rating is worked out

ScoreWhat raises it
ComfortThe comfort value of everything in the room: beds, sofas, rugs, cushions and the like.
FunctionUseful pieces such as desks, chairs and shelves.
LightingEach light source adds to it. A room with no lights scores almost nothing here. The Warm Lamp preset adds a few points and Dim Night takes a few away.
OrganizationMostly the share of messy items you have tidied, plus points for storage pieces.
ThemeThe percentage of your items that belong to the room's most common collection.
PersonalityPersonal items, plus 2 points for every different kind of item in the room, plus a bonus for four or more pieces of the night desk set.

Each score runs from 0 to 100, so a room can earn up to 600. The night desk set is the Night Desk, Vintage Radio, Brass Desk Lamp, Steaming Mug, Lofi Monitor, Small Plant and Speaker Pair.

XP, cozy points and unlocks

Placing an item earns 2 XP and tidying one earns 3. Completing a room pays XP equal to one eighth of its rating and cozy points equal to one quarter. Completing a room does not lock it: you can choose KEEP DECORATING and carry on.

You begin with the Study Nook shell and two themes, Night Desk and Warm Wood. Level 2, at 60 XP, unlocks the Studio Loft shell and the Cozy Tech and Vintage Radio themes. Level 3, at 240 XP, unlocks the Coding Den shell and the Plant Haven theme.

Lighting presets and the watch view

There are three lighting presets: a warm lamp, a cool desk light and a dim night setting. Besides changing the mood, the preset nudges the Lighting score. The settings sheet has switches for ambient sound, haptics and reduced motion, a cinematic mode that hides the interface (double-tap to leave it), and a reset for all progress.

Tips

  1. Tidy every messy item before you complete. Tidied items are the largest part of the Organization score, and each tidy is also worth 3 XP.
  2. Place at least one light early. Without any, the Lighting score sits near zero whatever preset you pick.
  3. Finish on the Warm Lamp preset if the rating matters to you. It is the only preset that adds points.
  4. For the Theme score, stay inside one collection. Every item from outside the dominant collection lowers the percentage.
  5. For Personality, variety beats repeats: one each of many kinds scores more than several copies of one.
  6. Put four pieces of the night desk set in any room for the personality bonus.
  7. Leveling is quickest by finishing well-rated rooms, since a completion pays far more XP than single placements.

Questions and answers

Do items cost anything?

No. There is no budget, and placing items is always free.

Why can I not complete my room?

A room needs at least six items, one of which gives light and one of which comes from the Essentials category.

Can I change a room after completing it?

Yes. Completing a room gives it a rating but does not lock it.

How many rooms can I keep?

Three, one in each slot. A slot can be cleared to start another.
