What Polarity Run is

Polarity Run is a one-tap magnetic runner. A pod climbs an industrial shaft on its own between two charged rails, red on the left and blue on the right. The pod is always being pulled toward one of them. Tap to flip its charge and it arcs across to the other side. You score for height, for every obstacle cleared and for every gold charge ring you touch.

Controls and the field

Tap anywhere to flip polarity. While red, the pod is drawn to the left rail, and while blue, to the right. It does not jump. It accelerates across in a smooth arc, so the flip has to come a moment before you need to be on the other side.

When the pod reaches the rail it is attracted to, it latches flat against it, safe from anything on the far side. In green neutral zones the field is switched off and the pod glides in a straight line, keeping whatever sideways motion it had on the way in.

Obstacles

ObstacleHow to pass it
Rail blockBe on the other rail, or at least off this one.
Slot wallA wall with a gap at one rail. Stay latched to that rail and skim through.
Mid-gateAn opening away from the rails, sometimes moving. Cross it in mid-arc.
Center splitOnly the middle is open. Flip, then flip back, so the top of your arc touches the gap.
Pulse blockSwitches on and off in a rhythm. Pass while it is dark.

Touching any of them ends the run at once. Close calls are rewarded, not punished.

Scoring

  • 1 point for every meter climbed, and between 10 and 15 for each obstacle passed.
  • A field skim, passing a slot wall while latched and close to its edge, adds 20.
  • A near miss adds 15, and threading a pulse block while it is dark adds 15.
  • A perfect center cross adds 25 plus a streak bonus for doing it repeatedly.
  • Each gold ring is worth 5 plus your current ring streak. Missing a ring resets that streak.

Speed, pickups and modes

The climb starts at 3 meters per second and ramps with altitude to a top speed of 6.4. A milestone banner appears every 25 meters. Now and then a glowing MAGNET pickup appears: grab it and for four seconds every charge ring in range is pulled straight onto the pod.

A crash brings up one TAP TO REVIVE offer per run, open for three seconds, and accepting it restarts the pod with a short shield. CLASSIC and HYPER are chosen on the title screen. Hyper is the same shaft at 1.25 times the speed for 1.5 times the points.

Tips

  1. Stay latched by default. A rail is the safest place in the shaft, and you should leave it only when something ahead demands it.
  2. Flip early. The arc starts slowly and gathers speed, so a late flip arrives late.
  3. For a center split, tap twice in quick succession. The second flip pulls the pod back just as it reaches the middle gap.
  4. Watch a pulse block through one full cycle, then go while it is dark.
  5. Enter neutral zones already moving the way you want to drift, because nothing will pull you once you are inside.
  6. Grab the magnet when a ring trail is ahead. It protects the ring streak without any extra flips.

Questions and answers

Which color goes to which rail?

Red is pulled to the left rail and blue to the right.

Is the pod safe on a rail?

It is safe from obstacles on the opposite side. A block on your own rail still ends the run.

What does the magnet do?

For four seconds it pulls every charge ring within range onto the pod.

Does the run ever stop speeding up?

Yes. Speed rises with height and levels off at 6.4 meters per second.
