In this guide What Phase Tunnel is Controls The two ways to die Scoring Neutral walls and the eclipse How the tunnel tightens Revive and Hyper Tips Questions and answers

What Phase Tunnel is

Phase Tunnel is a dodging game with nowhere to dodge to. Your orb rises through a tunnel that holds two realities at once, VIOLET and EMBER, and every wall belongs to exactly one of them. A wall is solid and deadly only while its own reality is active. In the other reality it is a faint ghost you pass straight through. Both sets of walls are always visible, and the whole screen takes the tint of the phase you are in.

Controls

Tap anywhere to swap which reality is active. One tap is one swap, and that is the whole game. The first tap on the menu starts a run, and a tap after a crash starts a fresh tunnel.

The two ways to die

The first mistake is staying in a phase while one of its walls arrives. The second is subtler: swapping into a wall you were in the middle of ghosting through, which materializes you inside it. One hit ends the run.

The tunnel never traps you. There is always a phase in which the path ahead is clear, and the first wall arrives only after a couple of seconds of open tunnel.

Scoring

  • Every wall you pass is worth 10 points.
  • A swap made at the last instant before impact counts as a PERFECT and builds a streak worth bonus points.
  • Phase shards are worth 5 each, but only if you are in the shard's own color when you touch it.

Neutral walls and the eclipse

Deeper in, steel NEUTRAL walls appear. They are solid in both realities, and only a gap on one side lets you through. Your orb rides the violet lane on the left and the ember lane on the right, so for a neutral wall you pick the phase whose lane matches the gap, whatever its color.

Every 40 points an ECLIPSE begins. For five seconds the game swaps the phase by itself about once a second, choosing only moments when the swap is safe, and every shard collected is worth double. Walls are still deadly, so you still have to answer whatever phase the eclipse leaves you in.

How the tunnel tightens

The orb accelerates with distance until it is moving about twice as fast as at the start. The time you have to swap in front of a wall shrinks from well over a second to under half a second. Runs of walls in the same phase punish tapping on autopilot, tight pairs demand two swaps back to back, and later walls bob up and down.

Revive and Hyper

The first crash of a run comes with a TAP TO REVIVE countdown of three seconds. Accept it and you phase onward behind a short shield. HYPER is the faster option on the title screen: the climb is 25 percent quicker and all points are multiplied by 1.5.

Tips

  1. Look up the tunnel before every swap. Never swap while your orb overlaps a ghost wall of the other color.
  2. Swap late on purpose once you are comfortable. Last-instant swaps are the only source of the perfect streak.
  3. Do not tap for every wall. Two walls of the same phase in a row need one swap, not two.
  4. Line up shard chains early. A shard only counts in its own color, so get into that phase before you reach the first one.
  5. On a neutral wall, forget color and think left or right. Violet puts you in the left lane and ember in the right.
  6. During an eclipse, keep checking the screen tint. The phase changes without you, so know which one you are in before the next wall and tap only to correct.

Questions and answers

Why did I die without hitting a solid wall?

You most likely swapped while passing through a ghost wall. Swapping makes that wall solid around you.

Is there always a safe phase?

Yes. The tunnel is built so that one phase is always clear.

Why did a shard not count?

Shards only score when you touch them in their own color.

What is an eclipse?

A five-second event every 40 points in which the phase swaps by itself about once a second and shards pay double.
